Many of us smile, cook, tell stories and make plans for the summer on this day. It is Memorial Day and we are celebrating the coming of summer, end of semesters and graduations for many. But there is a sadness attached as well.
Memorial Day was once a separate honoring of those who have fallen (and survived) fighting during the Civil War. It became greater for the union when it was celebrated after the first World War. There are men and women who take the day to celebrate, to honor the memory of their friends and loved ones.
This is going to be a rough Memorial Day for many but we are going to make it through as we have all rough patches in this place called the United States of America.
Enjoy your day, your loved one and remember…
